In today’s uncertain economy it’s important to save money wherever possible. These easy to follow tips will not only help you save money, but save energy too!
Beat the winter chill
By turning your thermostat down only 1 degree Celsius you can save as much as 10% off your next heating bill.
Feel the heat
Leaving hot water taps running is wasteful and expensive. Remember to use the plug in your sink to avoid running taps, and don’t set the water thermostat too high either. 60 degrees Celsius is about right.
Hit the switch
It’s easy to leave lights on, but making a conscious effort to always turn lights off when you leave a room will help save energy and money!
Remote control
Electronic equipment is often left switched on when not in use; however, this method eats up a lot of energy! Make sure to shut down your computer, switch off your television and stereo when not in use and keep electronics unplugged when possible.
Freezing Freezer
Defrosting your fridge on a regular basis will keep them running efficiently and avoid using up extra power. If possible, position your fridge and freezer away from heaters and stoves.
Draw the curtain
Closing curtains and blinds at night will help trap heat into your room, keeping out the winter cold and allowing you to also turn down the thermostat.
